Professor Cristina Cruz will discuss the evolution of SEW and its current state, offering best practices and guidelines for its application in both current and future family business research.
Cristina Cruz, PhD in Economics from Carlos III University (Madrid) is Full Professor of Entrepreneurship and Family business at IE University. She is the Academic Director of the IE Center for Families in Business, an excellence research center at IE University.
Professor Cruz leveraged her expertise in family business to conduct research on business families in different areas, including strategy, entrepreneurship, finance and human resources. Her academic work, published in leading academic journals such as Academy of Management, Administrative Science Quarterly and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, has contributed to enhance the legitimacy of the family business as a research field. She is one of the co-authors of the “Socioemotional Wealth framework”, the leading paradigm to explain family owners’ decision-making in family firms. Since 2017, she serves as Associate Editor of Family Business Review.
She has recently been awarded fellow of the Family Firm Institute, a recognition that the institution awards to individuals that demonstrate ongoing expertise and commitment to the field of family enterprise.
