Dear IFERA Members and Friends,

Join us at the University of Bergamo from 17th-21st June for the 2019 IFERA Annual Conference!
The research team of the Centre for Young and Family Enterprise (CYFE) and the IFERA Board look forward to welcoming scholars of all disciplines as well as family enterprises to engage in a fruitful conversation on family business research and practice.
Our conference theme “Feeding the fire of entrepreneurship: Theory and practice for the enterprising family” aims to foster the current discussion around the development of theories of the enterprising family, to favor the disciplinary cross-fertilization of family studies and entrepreneurship fields and to impact practice.
In line with the conference theme, we will have three outstanding academic keynote speakers: Howard Aldrich (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Jay Barney (University of Utah), and Nadine Kammerlander (WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management). Eminent representatives of the Italian family business landscape will also be present.

The Program will be enriched by some exciting pre-conference activities:

On June 17th the AMR paper development workshop presented by Jay Barney will be the venue to discuss theory development on the enterprising family. On June 18th the Doctoral and Faculty Development Consortia co-chaired by Claudia Binz Astrachan and Emanuela Rondi are designed, respectively, as interactive events for doctoral students planning to pursue a career in the family business field and for both new and experienced scholars to further develop their skills and network.
Authors of research papers, teaching cases and PhD proposals will be distinguished with special awards and will be invited to submit their manuscripts to special issues of specific journals and collections.
Networking among scholars and practitioners will be facilitated by uniquely designed social events in the beautiful medieval city of Bergamo and in its charming and well-known surroundings.
As we prepare for IFERA 2019, we hope that you will think creatively and provocatively about how to feed the fire of entrepreneurship in family business research from many different perspectives.
See you in Bergamo!

Tommaso Minola, Mara Brumana, Giovanna Campopiano and the IFERA Board
